Atheism : A True Definition

Atheism is defined in Webster's Dictionary as ungodliness , wickedness a disbelief in the existence of deity or the doctrine that there is no deity. Most people take atheism to the meaning of "Doesn't believe in god". This is one definition, but surely it could take on other meanings outside of Christianity. There could possibly be Atheists to the Hindu religion, Atheists to Buddhism...The List could go on. Yet, people only seem to mind if you are an Atheist by Christian or Catholic definitions. Why? Do other religions not matter? Is it because most major countries are of one of those two religions? Yes, if you are an atheist, it means you believe in no deity whatsoever. When someone asks the question of Religion, answering "Atheist" is obviously a mistake in itself, yet, why is the resulting question "Do you not believe in God?" Why not "You don't believe in the philosophies of Buddha?"
And still, Deity is defined as one exalted or revered as good or powerful. This means that our Presidents, Headmasters/Principals, Parents, Prefects, Governors etc. etc. could be considered "Deities" by definition. Meaning, to be truly Atheists, you probably would be of the " The System" persuasion. Therefore, not listening to the President, resulting in Jail. Yes, I am very aware I am running with the definitions, but am I totally wrong? Heads of the church could also be considered "Deities" so by not listening to the preaching of your Pastor/ Clergy , you could be defined as Atheist, but be fully Christian!
