"Individuality" Cliques

"Individuality" Cliques Emo graphics.

Scene. Punk. Emo. Goth. I would like to start by pointing out these are not just ignorant labels, but widley popular TRENDS. Ask yourself, what really is "uniqueness"? Is it having wild colorful hair, crazy make-up, or taking those crazy MySpace pictures? Don't judge me, I have nothing against people who choose that lifestyle. But I am finding that it is getting way out of control and over the top. Emo, standing for emotional, used to be a genre of music. For example, if you really think about it, My Chemical Romance IS an "emo" band. In Gerard's songs he states emotional lyrics in a poetic way. Quote Helana: "We are the very hurt you sold". But, since emo has taken on a whole new meaning, you may no longer call it that, because people will think you are refering to it as a "cutters" band or something like that.

Next is "scene". I must admit the only thing that really makes "scene" is the hair. I admit, as long as you don't over-do it, the hair can look pretty amazing. But some people go WAY too far with it. Your hair is not supposed to look like a lion's mane with 78 different shades of rainbow colors in it. I would also like to point out, copying. I've seen people get socially ripped to shreds for apperently "copying" another scenester. That to me is the most annoying thing that comes from this setting. It's sarcasticly amazing that one can get mad for someone copying them while they oviously go and copy their hairstyle, clothing, and attitude from others exactly like them. I'm sorry, but to me that's utterly stupid. I'm not challenging the scene world, cause I know there's no way I could win that argument. But in conclusion, I'm just saying stop trying to be cooler than everyone else, drop the trends and just let go and well... Be yourself.
