Being 'Original' Isn't That 'Original'

Being 'Original' Isn't That 'Original' Trying desperately hard to be original or just plain ridiculous?

The newest thing seems to be everyone claiming how 'original' they are. It seems that so many people want to stand out from the crowd, that they've made their own crowd. A crowd of people who are 'so different' from everyone else. Are they really that different though? It's becoming a trend.

Rainbow hair colors, non-mainstream music choices, and not wearing big name brand clothing is what these people call 'original'. How about we all just forget about being original and unoriginal and trying to be ourselves? Whether you like, what a lot of other people like or not, it doesn't matter.

Does ditching one of your favorite bands because they became mainstream make any sense? If you really like them, you should be happy that they made a good album and people want to go buy it. You shouldn't just forget about them because a bunch of other people like them now, too.

Changing your likes and dislikes to be different from everyone else is pointless because when that becomes the next big thing, you'll just have to change your opinions again. Instead of constantly avoiding the crowd, why don't you just join it for once? They have something in common with you, so why would you avoid that?

Don't aim for being original. Aim for being yourselves, whether you're like someone else or not. Being original is overrated.
