The Lies Magazines Tell Us

The Lies Magazines Tell Us Do you think they really relieved themselves?

Magazines and newspapers are one way to find out about new things that are happening in the world. There are numerous magazines about almost every thing - music, sports, latest gossips, world news. But are they accurate?

Yesterday, a friend of mine showed me a copy of Bravo magazine that is published here in Slovenia. She said there is a very inaccurate article about Green Day and I decided to take a look. I knew some things about them, and what I read surprised me in a very negative way. It was the same thing when I actually read the whole Bravo.

The Green Day article, titled "A Hard Way to the Top!", has a promising beginning, but then continues with "…At the anniversary festival Woodstock in New York, the visitors threw trash into them. Other bands would leave the stage at this moment, but the trio insisted staying on it. But that had its price - Mike lost three teeth when stone began flying on the stage!" First, they did not threw trash, they threw mud. And second, there may have been little rocks in those pieces of mud, but throwing only stone? Don’t you think that‘s a bit harsh? And that is not the only mistake, there at least five facts written wrong. And not to mention the frontman's name is Billy and the band's is Greenday.

And before that, they made a small "article" about that picture when they pretended to urinate. The title? Greenday "marks" the red carpet.

You may think "Oh, it's Green Day this Green Day that all over again." But the whole magazine then continues with various articles about Hannah Montana, Twilight, Lady GaGa, High School Musical and Katy Perry. Oh, and Jonas Brothers. Sounds familiar? These Disney "superstars" are on every single page. Mostly kids or younger teens buy this, and this makes me wonder: what is happening to the world? And the kids, getting brainwashed like this? They think about these people as superstars with great, almost miraculous talent.

They wear their merch, know every single line in HSM or all songs (choose Jonas Bros. or Miley) and can't shut up about them. They would fight you if you dared to say "What, Miley Cyrus is just a b***h who got lucky." It's like fashion - they'll worship what's today's fashion, and when a new wonder-person shows up, they'll discard old ones like an old torn sock. Show business is making stars that won't surely last for long. Do you think Jonas Brothers will be known for ages like The Beatles? Everyone seems to care only for money, and the more money someone makes, the better for them.

Many other magazines are just the same. They don't care about the truth, they just make a big title with a big question mark or exclamation point, put a "controversial" photo next to it, write something that people will like and the article is done! A perfect example: Christina Aguilera makes a sad face and goes home with her husband hugging her. The article would say: Something's wrong! Scandal! C.A.'s husband has to carry her home! What is happening to her?

The point is people, watch out what you read. I believe this is not just a stupid exception here in a country people don't know that exists. What would you think about Green Day if wouldn't or don't know a thing about them and read "Shocking, they peed on the red carpet"? The world is not what it used to be, and so are the people and everything they do. Majority of the readers don't see that and also can't divide the truth from lies. It's sad, but true: money makes the world go round..
